Ang Rita Sherpa visits Classic Journeys

Ang Rita Sherpa and his wife Ang Jhangmu recently visited the Classic Journeys HQ. We first met Ang Rita in Nepal many years ago through our association with George and Mary Lowe and the Himalayan Trust, the charity created by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1960. Ang Rita has for many years been the chief administrative officer for the Himalayan Trust in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was a great pleasure to welcome Ang Rita along with his wife, Ang Jhangmu, Himalayan Trust trustee Mary Lowe, wife of 1953 Everest expedition member George Lowe and New Zealander Ed Cotter. Ed climbed with Sir Edmund Hillary in the Himalayas in 1951 and later pioneered adventure tourism in the 1950s in Fiordland, New Zealand. Earlier this year he trekked to Everest Base Camp, at the age of 81!

Classic Journeys has supported the Himalayan Trust for may years and we would certainly encourage anyone to find out more about the charity and if possible make a donation.
